We Want to Foster Growth in This Region. Here’s Why.

Managing partner Tim Bush and his wife moved from Boston to Orlando in 2017. Their intention was to stay just a few months before returning home. But once in Florida, Tim’s years of experience in the healthcare industry told him that there was something unique happening in Central Florida.

Two years and one daughter later, Tim’s family continues to deepen their roots in the area, and while he remains connected to the venture space in Boston, he is committed to contributing to the rise of Central Florida’s entrepreneurial presence.

“Central Florida will remain under the radar for only so long.”

Under-ventured and undervalued, investment dollars go farther in Florida. This region has the tools and is expanding rapidly. We are here to put Central Florida’s reputation for innovation on the map.

Healthcare in Florida is Already Gaining Momentum.

1.

THE MARKET IS GROWING RAPIDLY

Over 1,000 people move to Florida every day. That, combined with the state’s recent removal of the certificate of need for hospital development, has led to significant healthcare expansion in Central Florida. Orlando has also had the highest job growth in the country between 2015 and 2018, and it is the fourth fastest growing U.S. metro area.  Tampa Bay is the 9th fastest growing metro.

2.

Significant investment in infrastructure

Central Florida houses one of the richest healthcare focused entrepreneurial ecosystems in the country. Orlando alone is home to five major medical centers and the newly developed Medical City Innovation Center in Lake Nona.  Tampa is seeing massive growth with the Water Street development’s emerging med-tech cluster.

3.

ACCESS TO A STRONG TALENT PIPELINE

Central Florida offers a focused stream of talent with over half a million college students within a one hundred mile radius of Orlando. Tampa’s focus on entrepreneurial activity is attracting young talent to the area like never before.  Our work can staunch the current brain drain by supporting competitive innovation here at home.

TIM BUSH, MANAGING PARTNER

“I Know the Healthcare Vertical.”

I have acquired deep domain experience working in various roles within GE Healthcare over the past 12 years. I can assess seed and early stage companies on the technology/solution relative to the market as well the team in place that will be responsible for growing the business.

This experience informs my ability to provide guidance – product development, pilot milestone processes and access to beta site/first customer – and I do so with an eye toward risk mitigation related to threats from competition.

I believe this process is a team sport and that the human aspect matters. I pride myself on being a good judge of ability and character. I listen well and learn fast. I remain focused amidst ambiguity. I enjoy simplifying the complex and can differentiate market hype from market reality. I am a born networker. Though optimistic, I am grounded in reality. I like to be well informed and am a decisive decision maker. I am hungry, and I love to be underestimated.
